Superstar Spanker - whatever that means...

superstar spanker

A bloke called Andy contacted us and suggested 'Superstar Spanker' as a t-shirt slogan - at first I just thought 'what the hell?' but after a while it grew on me, in part because of the ambiguity that at first put me off it!

After all, what exactly is a Superstar Spanker? Who knows... but I like to think of it as some kind of service one could provide at festivals for acts who step out of line...

I think it works particularly well on the ladis black t-shirt with a power reflex design... the guys glow in the dark is pretty cool too:

SEAN! Congratulations Sean!

A big thank you to everyone who entered the competition, sorry we couldn't give everyone a t-shirt :(

Sean is having a good week, the gods are smiling on him and his blog... he was Dugg this week for a blog post about a leaked version of the new Harry Potter book, which brought him loads of extra traffic!

Sean won a t-shirt of his choice and has picked our Bloggers t-shirt - and he has chosen the black t-shirt with glow in the dark design... which is proving to be very popular since we launched it recently :D Yay!

Here's a picture of the t-shirt Sean chose, click for more details.

Congratulations to our radio competition winner!

When I was on the excellent Indie Hour radio show we had a competition to win a t-shirt, and I'd just like to congratulate Mary Healy for answering the question correctly and winning the t-shirt of her choice!

Mary actually won a shirt not currently available on the site... Mary wanted a Racerback Tanktop, which currently only come in red, but Mary liked the look of our black with Power Reflex t-shirts... so we made Mary a special black Racerback Tanktop with a Power Reflex design on it.

See here for more about what the hell Power Reflex is!

Would you pay a little more for a black racerback tank top with power reflex design?

LCD Soundsystem - Electric Picnic 07 line-up

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I have to admit, despite having heard the name, I had not ever really listened to LCD Soundsystem. Something about the name suggested to me that I would not like it. I was wrong. Thank god for YouTube eh? otherwise I wouldn't know who to go see at Electric Picnic!

According to wikipedia the music of LCD Soundsystem can also be described as a mix of dance music and punk, along with elements of disco and other styles.

Check out also 'Daft Punk is playing at my house' (cool version played on letterman too), 'Tribulations' (you might recognise this one, even I did when I heard it!) & 'Movement'

Modest Mouse - Electric Picnic 07

Monday, July 16th, 2007

Modest Mouse are playing at Electric Picnic this year. I had never heard of them before, and I'm not yet convinced, but everybody tells me they are excellent.

I'll have to give them more time.

As i write this there is 45 days 19 hours 12 mins 45 secs to go till Electric Picnic, according to the countdown timer...

Glow in the dark & power reflex - it's the new Black.

Black t-shirts

YES! Exciting news - all our designs are now available in ultra cool BLACK.

For the blokes: Black with a glow in the dark design. Click here to see the glow in the dark t-shirts.

For the ladies: Black with a power reflex design (that's a cool highly reflective material!) Click here to see the ladies power reflex t-shirts.

Both the ladies AND the blokes t-shirts are 100% cotton and like all our designs they are 'plot printed', which gives high quality and high value printing results. The print is long-lasting and the colours will never fade.

The guys t-shirts are sturdy 185 g/m², 100% cotton, and double stitched classic cut.

The ladies t-shirts are supersoft 'Continental Classic Girlie' t-shirts and are made from interlocked combed cotton. This t-shirt is finely cut for women: not too tight and not too loose, with finely cut neckline and sleeves. 'Created by women for women'

We're all familiar with glow in the dark, but what the hell is power reflex? Well, here's a picture of power reflex in action - perfect for festivals!

Calling all Oxegen Campers...

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

So Oxegen was pretty muddy. But more importantly, there are more rumours of violence and general horribleness in the campsite. After last years issues you would think they would have gotten their act together - but then I wasn't there so I can't comment first hand...

Who was there? Did you have a good camping experience or a terrifying ordeal?

As I've said before, I was put off buying a ticket by the rumours last year. Was I right?

If you were there, vote in our poll and leave a comment!

The camping experience at Oxegen was:

Indie Summer - All Free Gigs!

Indie Summer

I really can't keep up with the huge amount of incredible musical activity in Ireland this Summer... what's going on? Let's hope this is the start of a new momentum, and that we won't overdose in the Summer and face into a bleak Winter!

Next week, on the 19th - 22nd July, in Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim is Indie Summer festival.

I contacted Johnny of downloadmusic.ie, the organiser, to ask him about Indie Summer and it seems the Indie Summer festival features an all Irish line up of acts, which is great - I don't know half enough of what's going on in the local music scene at the moment myself. The acts will perform in various venues around the town, and most importantly ALL THE GIGS ARE FREE!

There's a list of places you can stay available on the website,

Nice one Johnny!
