I'm wasted & Don't take drugs.

Monday, May 7th, 2007
Don’t take drugs. That’s stealing.

Yup yup, industrious little buggers that we are, we have added two new t-shirt designs.

No point asking me I’m wasted. That brings the total designs in our shop so far to TEN. Sure that's loads.

Rest assured though, we have many more on the way.

We've a good few we've thought up that we have yet to get into the shop.

The reason it takes time to get them into the shop is that each design has to be lovingly hand drawn by me, Frank.

And we're racking our brains constantly for more words to be putting on them.

Oh, hey - did you notice our cool timers in the sidebar? You can put them on your site if you want, just click here for details!

CSS on celebrity culture...

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

CSS Flicking through the Sunday Times today I noticed a small feature on Cansei de Ser Sexy (aka CSS) in the Style section which contained a fantastic quote from bassist Ira Trevisan:

The thing with American celebrity culture now is, it's like they've turned the whole world into an American high school, and everyone wants to be friends with the most popular girls.

CSS play the Oxegen music festival in July. They played in the Savoy, Cork in April and they rocked.

Countdown to Festival time!

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

If you look in the sidebar to the right you will see two very lovely countdown timers - one for each of the big Summer festivals.

Most people who are into live music (and general festival madness) are going to one or the other. It's dividing the nation. Electric Picnic or Oxegen?

Well now you can enjoy second by second anticipation while displaying your allegiance to your festival of choice by putting one of these timers on your site.

Get your countdown timer to your festival of choice here!

As you can see they fit very neatly into standard sidebars, but you can put them anywhere on your site or blog as long as you have a rudimentary grasp of cut-and-paste html.

Enjoy!

Electric Picnic Line up so far...

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

Electric PicnicTickets for Electric Picnic are sold out I'm afraid, but I have mine since Christmas, so I'm alright jack. I had my arm twisted to go to Electric Picnic last year, I didn't really want to go 'not a festival person' I said. Well I was dragged along and I loved it so much I bought my ticket for EP07 before any of the bands were announced.

I didn't care who was playing, I knew it would be brilliant. And It will be.

49 acts have been announced, and more on the way. The line up is more eclectic than Oxegen's line up (also sold out), and personally I think it's a more exciting line up. I suppose having tickets for EP and not Oxegen, I would say that wouldn't I? :D

Many of the bands I only know one or two of their songs, but those one or two are enough to convince me! I'm doing my research though, and I bought albums by !!!, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and The Good the Bad and the Queen. All three albums are EXCELLENT!

So here you go - the line up so far, in alphabetical order (THE Beastie Boys filed under T). No sign of info on who's playing when, but if I remember correctly, last year that info was released very late.

IT'S GOING TO BE EXCELLENT!

I’m fucking brilliant.

Brand new t-shirt in the shop, the 'I'm fucking brilliant' t-shirt.

This t-shirt is the bees knees. I can't believe I don't own a t-shirt like this already. This isn't just marketing guff, I am getting one of these myself and wearing it. Look out for me wearing it around Cork!

Anyway, FestivalShirts.net is live, but it's still the world's best kept secret as we haven't started shouting from the rooftops - yet.

I’m fucking brilliant. Our t-shirts are designed to be fun summer wear - each t-shirt is a brightly coloured fabric with a yellow splash and a mad slogan. many of the slogans are specifically designed with music festivals in mind, but as you can see from our latest we do general ones too. :)

I design each slogan by hand, no easy font use here people, each letter of each slogan is lovingly hand crafted!

At the moment we have eight designs, but these are being added to as regularly as possible, so watch this space!

Feel free to leave suggestions for slogans you'd like to see on a t-shirt.. um.. we can't pay you or anything, but tell you what, if we use your slogan, and it sells more than two shirts we'll see about getting you a freebie, how does that sound? And if your slogan turns us into millionaires, we'll invite you to stay with us on our paradise island, ok? Just for a weekend, mind.

The current ones are listed below, click on the slogan to see it in the shop:

Oxegen Line Up

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

OxegenTickets for Oxegen are well sold out. The line up is incredible, but I'm an Electric Picnic person myself anyway.

The line up for Oxegen made me think, just briefly about whether I should consider getting a ticket, but then I remembered the fires, the fights and the general mayhem that was reported last year.

Was anyone reading this at Oxegen 2006? What do you reckon - good time had by all, or riots and violence in the campsite ruined it?

The line up is a great mix of high profile just-left-enough-of-mainstream-to-be-cool acts:

Arcade Fire - My heart is a broken apple

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

There's no getting away from it. Everyone going to Electric Picnic is pissed off that Oxegen got Arcade Fire. No fair.

Here's my favourite Arcade Fire song, not from their new album, a bit older:

Oh and check out their cover of 'Guns of Brixton'...

Iggy Pop. Nuts as ever.

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

I have missed Iggy playing in Ireland so many times since I got into his music it's not funny, so I was hyped when I hear he was playing Electric Picnic... I will be there. Front and Center. Spit on me Iggy. C'mon, look at him, he's as nuts as ever. See you at Iggy and the Stooges at EP.

Incredible music Summer

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Is it just because I'm paying more attention this Summer, or is the Music situation in Ireland this year unbelievable. I have my tickets to Electric Picnic, and that's my big outing this year - and between tickets and everything that goes with a festival it's going to cost. And yet I'm having to stop myself from buying tickets to EVERYTHING!

It's unbelievable, there's so much I want to go to...

There's no way I can even list everything but we have:

  • Cat Power, Nouvelle Vague, Architecture in Helsinki, Kinky Friedman and Beirut all play the Tripod in Dublin on various dates...
  • Oxegen - great line up, but doesn't have a great rep...
  • Electric Picnic - my personal favourite!
  • Lovebox - new to the scene, wouldn't be too excited by it so far...
  • Live at the Marquee - Antony & the Johnsons, the Flaming Lips, Madness, The Who, Christy Moore and more... and it's IN CORK! Yes Boy.
  • Garden Party - wouldn't be my scene musically. Anyone go last year?
  • Al green and Joe Cocker - two legends! Saw Al green in Dublin a while back. The man is on of the best human beings on the planet.
  • Arctic Monkeys - everybody loves them, I don't know them really.
  • The Frames - yeah, I know they play all the time, but I only really got the Frames last summer at Electric Picnic so I'm still excited by Frames gigs...
  • The Decemberists - no idea who they are, but they have a cool name.
  • I'm not going to mention Justin Timberlake. Ok, I admit it, I'd go see him if he played another Vicar St gig, or whatever that little gig he did was.
  • Grant Lee Philips - I know one of his songs and it's excellent!
  • Damien Rice - Marley Park. Never seen him live. Oh, wait I saw him play one song at Electric Picnic.
  • The Police - won't be going to this one, but I keep wondering if I should... I only really like their first album.
  • Heineken Green Energy Festival - Kasabian are one of those bands that are on my ipod but I never listen to them. Themselves and Sinead O'Connor will be there.
  • Rolling Stones - why the hell don't I know more Stones stuff? I dunnoe.

Phew. And their just the one's I've been hearing about so far. What else is on people?
